No Carbs - Day 8

I've been teary lately. Not because I miss bread and pasta and food alone but because
my brain is freaking out without the constant flow of sugar to stimulate serotonin. I think part of me is afraid of who I will be once I get this weight off. I thought I covered this crap in therapy but the onion of my complex self has oodles of layers. I don't think I purposely put the weight on to hide but I think I found safety in the fat suit. Safety from what? Humm...

  1. Hey Abby, I'm so proud of you...thank you for bravely sharing your journey. It is amazing the things our body chemistry does and I understand your comment about the fat suit. I've had a similar realization this summer myself...de-layering is like reading a good mystery it seems..surprises at every turn. How is your dance card stacking up for friendly visits post-op?

  2. My dance card is wide open. Thanks Amy. It is such a comfort to share life with ones that share similar stories.

  3. I was a complete mess on no carbs! I promise, by mid-September, you'll be thrilled you did it. I had a little freak out about a week before as well..."OH MY GOD: Did I really decide to have a drastic operation just to lose weight?!?!" Try to focus on the things you are looking forward to rather than the things that could (but probably won't!) go wrong. We already fit better in movie theater seats. My wedding rings aren't tight anymore. I was in a size 26/28 and I'm already in a size 18/20! Feel free to call or email any time! Praying for you before, during, and after your big day!

  4. Abby, I've got your number and will call you next week, see how things are going and when a little visit would work best for you. Please know that you're in my prayers as you continue your prep work until the big day next week. Keep blogging and tell us what your thoughts prayer needs are!!! Love you!!!
