Summer!

As we dive into summer it is evident that life sure is different than last summer!
My weight has been rather stable and I'm ok with that.
I've lost 89 lbs so how could I not be thrilled with that!
I'm wearing a size 14 dress today and feel girly and cute.
I bought a few bathing suits and even feel confident at the pool!

My tummy and health have been just dandy.
My back still hurts from time to time.
Might be the new cute heels I'm wearing :-)

Obviously I am in all new clothes now - so my biggest problem is paying off the Kohl's and Penney's credit cards. Now accepting donations and gift cards! LOL

We had a fabulous time in Destin over Memorial Day weekend. Billy took his 1st boat ride.
I took a few amazing bike rides around the gorgeous resort.

Billy is having the time of his life going on daily field trips at summer camp.
Today they are at the Georgia Aquarium! Next week - a Braves game!

I am still learning about food addiction and how to deal with life sober. Women, Food and God by Geneen Roth is an amazing book. A Course in Weight Loss by Marianne Williamson is deep and difficult. The more layers I take off the onion that is my complex self the more I understand how important it is to be a loving, kind and God fearing parent. The lack of self care/love, the lack of parental care/love and the lack of self awareness - all need healing. I'd love to do a study with someone and talk about this fun stuff. Like that's not enough to study I also started Radical by David Platt (Bible study at The Bridge) and The Courage to Heal workbook.

I am dealing with mixed emotions as my bestie Jodi follows the calling of God to move her family to the Dominican Republic. I am so proud of her and Michael! They are Radical for the hearts and souls of the lost. Please follow their journey, too!

I found the following helpful and thought it could help someone else!

Tennie McCarty  (Founder and Therapist, Shades of Hope Treatment Center in Buffalo Gap, Texas and on the show Addicted to Food on OWN) speaking of food addiction:

No one caused it, it's not a character defect, and you are not weak-willed. It is an addiction that is treatable.

Bob Greene from Oprah.com:
For Bob, dieting has never been the be-all, end-all quick fix to eliminating weight loss problems and keeping the weight off in the long run. "Weight is a symptom of something that needs to change," he said on The Oprah Show in 2003. "It's usually not simply about food."

As a part of making a commitment to lose weight, Bob says you should ask yourself three important questions to start off on the right track:

1. Why are you overweight?
The real answer to this question is not simply: I like food—it goes much deeper, he says. "Are you in a toxic relationship? Do you hate what you do for a living? What is it about your life you would change?" Bob asks. "That answer is different for everyone. Get in touch with that."

2. Why do you want to lose weight?
The answer to this question will help you determine if you're beginning your weight loss journey with the right mindset, Bob says. "So many people [say], 'Oh, I have my reunion coming up,' or 'I get pressure from people at the workplace or my friends.' Those might get you going, but they'll never be long-term solutions," he explains. "The [best] answer to this question is, 'I want a better life for myself.'"

3. Why haven't you been successful to date?
If you have tried to lose weight in the past, Bob says it is important to explore the obstacles that have stood in your way to maintaining your goal weight. "It's about identifying what is going to trip you up, because the same things will trip you up if you haven't resolved the heart of the issue," he says.

If you can answer those questions honestly, Bob says, you are truly ready to begin.
